INVENIO VIRTUAL TECHNOLOGIES AND REVALIZE: DMU WORKFLOWS DIRECTLY IN PRO.FILE

invenio Virtual Technologies (VT) specialises in digital mock-ups (DMU), geometric analysis and the automation of 3D processes in digital product development. With its modular software toolkit, VT-DMU, invenio VT provides powerful functions for the processing, analysis and preparation of 3D data.

As part of its technology partnership with Revalize, selected VT-DMU workflows are integrated directly into the PRO.FILE PLM solution. This enables companies to utilise and automate DMU-based processes directly within their existing system environment.

Open connectivity and flexible integration

VT-DMU was specifically developed to connect to and integrate with existing enterprise applications. Its functions can be flexibly integrated into PLM, PDM, CAD and other engineering systems via open and standardised interfaces.

The integration with PRO.FILE is an example of how specialised DMU functions can be made available directly where product data is managed and processes are controlled. Users benefit from seamless workflows without media breaks and from the efficient utilisation of their existing system landscape.

Expansion of PRO.FILE to include powerful DMU functions

Selected VT-DMU workflows are available directly within PRO.FILE via Job Server extensions. Recurring 3D data processing tasks can be automated and integrated into existing processes.

Typical use cases include:

  • Preparing large CAD models for data exchange and visualisation
  • Geometric comparison of different stages of development
  • Automated generation of technical drawings from 3D models

This helps to reduce manual effort, standardise processes and make development workflows more efficient.

Available VT-DMU workflows in PRO.FILE

  • Data reduction
    Large 3D models are automatically simplified and optimised for quality. Unnecessary internal geometries can be removed, whilst relevant visible areas are retained. This results in more compact datasets for data exchange, visualisation and downstream applications.
  • Calculation of differences
    Two component or assembly models are compared geometrically. Geometric changes are automatically detected, visualised and documented. This supports development, approval and change management processes by enabling a rapid and traceable analysis of design changes.
  • Image generation
    Technical images and visualisations are automatically generated from existing 3D models, from defined perspectives. The views generated can be used, for example, for technical documentation, assembly instructions or product information.
