The increasing complexity of product development, especially in the automotive industry, requires new approaches to harmonise quality, costs and time. invenio Virtual Technologies (VT) addresses this issue and supports companies in securing development processes virtually at an early stage and mapping them digitally from end to end.
A holistic approach takes centre stage: instead of isolated tools, invenio VT develops integrated solutions that are geared towards specific use cases. The aim is to prepare and network digital product data in such a way that it can be used efficiently throughout the entire development process. Geometry, structure and metadata are intelligently linked on the basis of the modular VT-DMU software toolkit to enable well-founded decisions to be made at an early stage.
A typical use case is virtual assembly validation. Here, digital vehicle models are automatically analysed and assembly-relevant information is provided in a structured manner. Experts can check components and assemblies for their suitability for assembly at an early stage, document problems and derive measures. This creates an end-to-end process that significantly reduces risks in subsequent production.
With this in mind, invenio VT worked with a leading OEM in the automotive industry to develop a solution for virtual assembly validation and put it into productive use within twelve months. The aim was to enable a consistent, digital assessment of buildability across all vehicle variants and at the same time significantly increase efficiency for users.
A particular focus was placed on practical suitability. The solution was developed in close collaboration between the specialist departments, IT and invenio VT and consistently aligned with the real requirements of the users. The result links data from product development directly with assembly requirements. Vehicle structures and variants are automatically transferred, analysed and prepared for evaluation. The application has been integrated into existing system landscapes on a customised basis, can process large volumes of data with high performance and reduces manual effort.
Further details on the solution and the underlying process can be found in the technical article.
